Bad map frame in Android Auto split screen

When using "next step" map display mode with Android Auto part of the map is truncated. The visible part of the map is the same as if it was running in full screen. So I guess it is using the screen width for calculating the view port and not the visible frame as it probably should.

Hi Jouke and ABRP team. I have the same issue. I have also a nothing phone 2. Jouke, is your issue solved ? if yes, what did you do ?
J
Jouke Hijlkema
No. I have to manually switch to landscape on the phone for it to work. If I understood correctly, both abrp an nothing phone are working in it. I guess we he have to be patient.
A workaround seems to be to put the phone into landscape mode. Seems to be a bug on nothing phone os side. Can you please verify it's the same issue?
UNLKY HNTR
Yes, putting it in Landscape fixes it, but if you enter an adress or go into the APP settings (in Android Auto) the bug will return. Also returns if your backup camera comes on or when you open any other app in AA.
Such a weird bug, because all the other apps work just fine.
UNLKY HNTR
Putting the phone in landscape is a good workaround for now, hope this gets fixed soon. Thanks for the great support!

There it was the other way around, so we added a workaround to make up for that. Maybe that breaks anything for you.
Could you please let us know the app version (including the number in brackets behind it) at the bottom of the settings oin the ABRP app? Also please check the version of the Nothingphone OS and please check if there is an update available, which might fix it on Nothingphone side.

Just a thought, wouldn't it be easier to just have a parameter that forces landscape or portrait when using AA ?
Samuel_ABRP
This is no portrait or landscape issue, it is clearly a bug on Nothingphone OS side. I'm afraid we can not always fix their bugs with every new OS update. Normally Android Auto reports the correct screen size to us and we just use it. This does not seem to be the case here.
J
Jouke Hijlkema
Can I do anything to help ?
Samuel_ABRP
You can report a bug at Nothingphone.
J
Jouke Hijlkema
I did. They asked me to upgrade play store. I keep you posted.
J
Jouke Hijlkema
So far nothing has changed.
Samuel_ABRP
Sorry, we cannot reproduce this with our own Nothingphone and you seem to be the only one affected... Could you please describe in as much details again, how you get into the situation and how you fix it? Changing the orientation of the phone actually really sounds like an issue with the Phone OS itself and i'm not really sure if we can do anything about this.
J
Jouke Hijlkema
When I use ABRP with AA I have only half the screen. When I change the orientation of the phone to landscape, all is well. There is not much more to add. ABRP is the only app where this happens.
Samuel_ABRP
Ok, I'll also send a bug report to Nothingphone, nothing more we can do about it. The orientation of the phone should not have any effects on AA and we have heard of no other phone doing this.

Hey, could you please get in touch with Nothingphone support, and send them the link and explain everything? You can mention the ticket I opened earlier: 548616 so they have more context. I think it makes more sense that you contact them directly without us as intermediate relay. I also sent them your link, so if you reference my issue, maybe you can continue the discussion from user side.
