Blank Screen on Android Auto

When I start ABRP on Android Auto I get a blank (black) car display window. I can start it on my phone, and it works fine on the car until I move to another AA app and then change back, whereupon the screen is blank again and navigation stops. I originally presumed it was because I did not have the premium version so have now subscribed but it has not helped..
Car is a (new) MG4 XPower with R46 software
Phone is Xiaomi 12 with HyperOS V1.0.3.0 (Android 14)
Android Auto is V11.4.640814
ABRP is V4.7.7

The same thing has happened to me on a luxury mg4 several times, with a Samsung Zfold4 phone

How long are your weekends? The report was sent 6 days (4 working days) previously.
I saw that thread but also saw it was 2 years old and there were claims it had been fixed.
I'll try some of the workarounds in that thread this weekend (which unusually is 4 days).

Hi Edwin,
The thread I linked has the status 'in progress' since it is a current issue with Xiaomi phones.
You may see other historical statuses due to the ticket being closed and reopened in the past.

I'm sorry but we normally don't work weekends :)
This is possibly related to this existing issue; abrp.upvoty.com/b/report-a-bug/bug-or-feature-android-auto/
You can try the workaround my colleague suggests in that thread;
"In the meantime as workaround you can long click on the app icon in the app drawer, scroll down to the advanced section and there you will find a setting similiar to "overlay over other apps""

No response after a week, and no response to an email report either.
Looks like I'll be cancelling my subscription if I can't use the app.
