Display the battery pack temperature in addition to SOC.

Especially in the winter, it is useful to know the battery pack temperature. Some cars reduce DCFC charge rates if the pack is too cold, and sometimes your ability to request preconditioning is limited.

Please...
Remove the GPS overlay and add a battery temperature overlay.

Who needs the GPS speed?
Every car has a speedometer, which should be accurate enough.
But how many EV's have a battery temperature display?

Opel Mokka-E / Corsa-E? no.
Peugeot e208 / e2008? no.
Citroen eC4... no...
Dacia Spring... no..
Renault Zoe... no!

This is an already handled request. If you're requesting different functionality please submit a new ticket.

Do note that you have the option to disable speed display in the settings of AA or CarPlay.

This is now available with the new companion mode / navigation UI. So I will close this. We won't do any further visualization while driving. If you need this more prominent, please open a feature request at the car manufacturer also, to show it with an upcoming firmware update.

Very important to see this, now its ”hidden” and I need to use carscanner to see the coldest temp in the pack.

A nice addition would be to get a reminder to start pre-conditioning, simply based on battery temp (below 25c) and estimated time to charger (e.g 30 minutes for cold batter, 10 minutes for warmer etc). Later this could be more intelligent like the learning you do for kWh consumption.

the new drive display on the smartphone looks nice - maybe it is possible to get the 'Battery Min' temperature instead of 'Battery Max' temperature? (or both?)
With Hyundai Kona, Kia E-Niro and E-Soul the Battery Min temperature is important to know, below 25°C Bat Min you dont get the max available charge power.
Also: maybe it is possible to get an additional space inside AA with the temperature, somewhere where the SOC box on the right side is located (maybe with a checkbox inside the settings, where you can choose if you want to see the temperatures of not, for those who need/want it, and for those who dont care about this) - i keep the smartphone display turned off, due to temp issues with the smartphone when driving long routes and keep it pluged inside the USB.
Also (number 2) will there be a burndown chart in the future again?

Option to Show the battery temperature next to the actual SOC and destination SOC while navigating in/with android auto. (Owner of an ipace, would be nice to see the battery remperature increasing because of dynamic driving style if you want to reach a fast charger with around 20degrees battery temp.)

Hello APRP,
I am driving an e-Golf and after driving aprox 600-700km the battery starts to get hot. This have great influence on the overall charging time.

That’s why I would love to see the actual battery average temperature live while driving. So I could slow down if needed to get a better charging time on the last charging stop.

Hope you can help supply me with this option :)

Best regards

Martin Hansen

Like to see it on the simple/detailed view and/or CarPlay screen. Have a VW ID.3 and want it for optimal charging speed.

+1 for this ..

currently doing our first summer trip with the e-golf .. and with the unusual warm summer, even on a 2nd fast charging on a warm day the battery is already 'rapidgating' .. I think it would be beneficial also for ABRP to collect the information of the battery temp impact to charging speed ..

This was taken just now, the batt temp is there. . But I don't see it all the time and when it's gone after we start navigating..

It would be nice to have it in CarPlay, sort of integrated with the SOC indicating.

The battery temp is import since it will influence charging speed. So it helps to show it so you can decide to speed up and put heat in the battery. Maybe add green when in optimal charging window and orange if outside 20-30 Celsius range

It would be great to see the actual battery temperature under "detailed view/mode" when navigating. In case of Hyundai / Kia this gives a clue about the expected charging speed (only 25 °C or above enables the full speed, 24 °C is not sufficient).

We will try to add this; would you like to have it in CarPlay/Android Auto (for example together with the SoC) or rather a view of detailed information in the phone display (to complement CP/AA)?

It would be great to see the actual minimum (!) battery temperature under "detailed view mode" when navigating (I don't use AA or CP, just the android smartphone).

I was about adding a feature request for showing battery temperature on Android Auto when I found this feature request already exists and already got some attention. Please count me in for battery temperature display on Android Auto.

It would be nice to have a small display (maybe near the SOC/BT box) to see if you have the right temperature to get full charging speed (eg. Hyundai and Kia) or you have to expect lower charging speeds.
Maybe with the option inside the app do you can choose weather you want to see the temp display or not.
now in the ABRP app you have the point 'battery temperature' where the 'Battery Max temp' is displayed (in this case Kia E-Niro) but to prevent coldgate the 'Battery Min Temp' is necessary.
PIDs for the temp is available online.

Yes great idea it help to plan a recharge in winter cold conditions

Avatar

Even if the temperature is low you still have to charge and have not so much influence on the battery temp. So not sure if this will provide much information for everyone. Also we do not want to encourage people to start dangerous driving just to heat up the battery. I could imagine this as part of the my drives route overview though and it is also available in the car details when available in telemetry data.

It would be great if the battery temperature in CarPlay would be displayed in the "i" area on the large display

Avatar

I think it is safer to press an (i) on the large Carplay display to find out the current battery temperature. Instead of fumbling for my wired iPhone while driving, activating the display, starting the app. This is very distracting, in contrast to a tip on the large display. Since I have the option of manually controlling the temperature of the battery in my car, i.e. warming or cooling it, before I drive to the charging station, this information and a tip are very good to know ;-)
