Route Planner is more optimistic for some vehicles

Mustacheo

My regular route plan for my R1T (Quad, Large, 21") dropped nearly 2.5 hours off the estimated trip duration. I then plotted the same trip with other vehicles that I track and saw that their duration estimates have all increased since the last time I checked. I'm concerned that someone with access to the code may have messed up the algorithm, resulting in my model getting results that are way too optimistic.

Compare that to just about any other vehicle, and their trip estimates for the same route have all gone up by an average of 1 hr (using default settings).

The total trip is expected to take 2 1/2 hours less time than what ABRP estimated a month ago.

Katya, I just checked my settings and I only see the 5 minute charger overhead. My concern is not that the trip is too long, it instead looks too short.

Here is what I am seeing: abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=5f9c7f0e-cd0b-4c18-94c6-3520f9428525

Hi Mustacheo,

Looking at your account you've currently got a plan for an unsaved vehicle open. I don't want to erase that for you so I won't go in and check the R1T directly in the app (seeing exactly what you see), unless you give the ok for me to switch vehicles.

Looking at the settings for the R1T on our end you do appear to have 'charging overhead' set to 300. The default value is 5 (minutes) and this equals the time for, after arrival, finding the charger, parking, plugging in, starting the charging session and getting going again after charging.

If this value is high, the overall trip time will of course be significantly higher. When switching to a different vehicle model we'll use default settings, charging overhead = 5 minutes so the trip time will naturally be shorter again.

If you've got a specific plan where this occurs feel free to share a link to it and we can review the settings. After planning tap 'share plan' > 'share ABRP link' and paste the URL here.
