Not able to make U-turns on interstates/

First time using abrp and ran into this gem twice.

It's not legal to make U-turns on interstates in Michigan. It was recommended to me when I missed a turn.

Second time was on a turnpike in Ohio. The only midpoint Electrify America charger is on the turnpike. You can't simply switch directions from east to west from the rest stop as abrp suggests.

Closing since we cannot replicate the issue now, could have been a temp map issue.

Hi Aaron,

Agreed, those are terrible choices for routing instructions. Thank you for reporting this.

Could you provide a link to a plan that goes through the point where we gave the instruction, so that we can examine what data we get about the road itself?

After creating a plan you can do: share > share ABRP link, this gives you an URL you can copy and paste here.

This should be it. abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=c13c9779-20f3-4c1a-881a-7258699565b8

I'm not sure you'll get the exact route as it was due to lane closures on i-75 south. I was on i275s and wasn't able to get over for the i94w exit. As soon as I was past I got a chime and was quickly directed to do a U-turn on the freeway. The safer thing would have been to redirect me to the next exit and turn around. Unfortunately due to a lot of lane closures on i275 south it just wasn't possible and I instead went through traffic.

I hope this shows up this way. I used the webpage to get the result again as the app just plots 275s to 75s and won't use 94w to 23s until you're on the road depending on traffic conditions.

Hi Aaron,

I'm not able to replicate the behavior at the moment. I've also tried to recreate it with other current traffic situations, closures, and road works in other places on US highways but there we suggest detours and don't intend to make U-turns.

On top of that, as the lanes north and south are entirely separate in this case, it shouldn't be possible for us to suggest a U-turn as it requires that the different directions somewhere are linked together.

Would you be able to point out where on the map we thought a U-turn would be possible?
