I was locked out of my Ford account, when I called to get it reinstated I was told I have an app violating their TOS.
Ford may ban some people randomly, but I was directly told why I was banned. Poor error messaging is probably causing a lot of misreports, until I called all I had was a cryptic error code.
I think there might be a misunderstanding. I wasn't disconnected from smartcar, or if I was, that's not the issue. The problem is that connecting to smartcar caused Ford to lock me out of the Ford app.
We've spoken to SmartCar and it seems some users have been randomly disconnected from Ford.
SmartCar: "We think this is related to Ford's semi-release of a new public API. Unfortunately, their team seems like they've gotten their wires crossed - their new API is not yet stable, but they've started to block people not using it and according to some reports have blocked some folks that have tried to use it."
We'll continue to monitor the situation and we will still permit users to link their Ford vehicles via SmartCar as we do not believe this is done deliberately by Ford.
