Connection failure: EV6/Vgate iCat BLE/Android

Initially I was able to make a working connection about a week ago. I decided to try the ABRP Premium today. After many attempts, I have not been able to succesfully pass the third stage in setup process. Before the error message, I see text on green saying Connecting/Writing...

I have tried with and w/o having the Bluetooth 2 connection established in the Android settings with no impact.

The iCat module works fine with Car Scanner and EV Watchdog.

Car: Kia EV6 RWD Long Range
Phone: Nokia 6.1 with latest Android updated

Addition: having (a wired) Android Auto connection on or off does not seem to make a difference. Actually, when the connection worked on my first try last week, the connection was on but without Premium.

Hi, Premium does not have any influence on the BLE connection. Which ABRP version do you use? We just recently improved BLE with version 4.2.1. Please check if you have that version already installed.

Hi,
mine is 4.2.2.
Ok, I thought Premium subscription was coincidental, but I do not think there were other changes... Maybe I need to remove ABRP and try from scratch?

As a first step you could unlink the telemetry for the car and set it up again. Make sure no other app accesses the dongle, as only one connection at a time is possible.

If no connection is established sometimes it also helps to close the app completely and start it again.

Some dongles don't allow a connection when they are in sleep mode. Try to replug the dongle before starting ABRP.

How do you unlink the telemetry? As I did not figure this out, I removed the car, adding it then back -> no difference.

Then I removed the app from my phone and reinstalled -> no difference.

I tried to make the connection after the dongle being in its socket for varying times, also so that I put it in place only after initiating the connection. Every time the error message comes just seconds after the setup has jumped to the phase 3.

BTW: Everything seems to work fine with my wife's iPhone 11.

Did you send debug data on step 3? In that case we could look into the data you sent us.

No, I tried that couple of times but I messed something up there. I will try that later again.
