CarPlay sounds very low and late

I cannot use ABRP navigation with CarPlay as the navigation instructions are very quiet and can’t be heard.
The instructions totally cut out the XM Radio sound and are only about 1/4th the volume of the radio. Apple Maps and Google Maps only reduce the volume of the radio, and then give instructions at the same level as the radio, but it is adjustable if I turn it up or down while those apps are speaking. This isn’t possible with ABRP.
The instructions also come too late. Compared to the other 2, I don’t have time to get to a different lane if needed.

Hi,
we don't set any special low volume, it is the default volume. On most cars you can increase the navigation volume when you turn the volume knob while an instruction is read. Maybe try that and see if that increases the volume for you. The navigation volume on most cars is seperate from the radio volume.
Do you have samples where the instructions come too late (please share a plan with only that part of the route where you think the instruction is too late)? I don't think they are too late, did many drives with them as well. Maybe you missed the initial instruction because it was not loud enough? We use at least two voice commands for each instruction and the first one should be pretty far ahead the actual turn.
