Carplay map zoom out when navigate

When I navigate to a location the map stays zoomed out to show the complete route. Only zooms in when coming to a turn. After turn zoom out again. Is this by design or a bug?

Have you tried to toggle the view (overall/detail) by clicking on the arrow button on the right lower side of the CarPlay Screen?
