Bought a New Obd dongle for live services. Abrp keeps scanning (on my iPhone 7) even though the dongle is visible to nRf-Connect-app. Have deleted and re-added my car, ioniq5)

Hi all,

Just checking in, are you still seeing issues with connecting to this dongle?

I use VGate iCar Pro successfully on a Hyundai Kona and have the feeling that starting with version 4.2.2. the automatic reconnect with the dongle works much more reliable. Before that I had often no connection after start of ABRP.

Hi,
Yes, but new issues.
Since the last version 4.2.4 (on a pixel 3a with Android 12) the dongle can been configured properly over BLE.
BUT even tough the "save" button is used after the dongle is configured, it won't succeed refreshing ODB data on the next use of the app.
The status window in the app keeps displaying "reading, writing..." but the app doesn't appear to be able to access ODB.
So the only solution I've found is to unlink and relink the dongle each time I leave the car (SKODA Enyaq) and come back to it.

Hi Pere,

Sorry for the delayed reply here. We'd need some more information (if this error persists). May I ask you to submit a new report including the device model of your OBD device?

I'll be closing this thread since the initial issues appear resolved, but we'll of course like to have any remaining or new ones fixed as well.

Please try again on latest 4.2.2 we improved the BLE implementation and it should work better now.

Hi Roland,

I use the Vgate iCar pro successfully with ABRP on an iPhone Xr with an Hyundai Kona 2019.

Have you tried to temporary disconnect all other bluetooth connections of your phone (even the one with the car) and then reconnect the adapter? Have seen problems with multiple parallel bluetooth connections too on my former iPhone 7.

As Samuel said - do not connect the VGate dongle through the bluetooth settings screen. If already done, select the Vgate connection there and click ignore. Then and try to scan and reconnect directly within the app.

Your iOS settings show that it is connected, please remove that connection and let ABRP handle the connection. Does it work then?

After you remove the connection from iOS please also unplug and replug as some OBD dongles are not visible anymore when paired.

Thanks for your speedy reply. Sorry, it still does not work. I have even removed the nRf-app (to prevent accidental connection) , restarted my iphone, removed and restarted the dongle, restarted the car.

May have to return the iCar pro and try a different type.

Great feature though, if it works. Keep it up.
