In the UK, and probably other countries as well, there are lots of narrow roads, usually with high hedges on either side, that can only be used safely at a low speed. These roads don’t normally have a posted speed limit so the route software treats them as normal roads, when in reality, they should be avoided unless there is no other option.

Hi Roger,
Our minimum is set to 1.9 m currently and we'll by default exclude narrower roads as long as we're getting the correct data. There's no data telling us if there are high hedges on the sides or not.
If you find us routing through roads narrower than the minimum please send us a link to a sample plan where this occurs.

abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=55720c3d-c125-4891-9107-6dc026dffdda, routes me along Kelsterton Lane, which is only wide enough for a single car in a lot of places. It is probably more than 1.9m but it’s not possible to travel at any sort of speed on this road. Any roads that don’t have marked lanes should probably have a reduced speed limit applied to prevent the algorithm from preferring them.
Looking at OpenStreetMap, it seems like Kelsterton Lane has been given a highway=tertiary classification, which it clearly isn’t. www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.2212213,-3.090091,3a,75y,16.97h,86.98t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sKAwtai6wixcNCCnuAQpPPQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu
It does seem to want to avoid other _unclassified_ roads in the area, which makes me think that it’s the data that is wrong in this case.

Hi Roger,
Thank you! Yes, we'll have a lower preference for roads with lower classification and looking at the street view this looks more like 'unclassified'.
I've made edits in OSM to have it be highway=unclassified but I have not made any edits to the width since it is both varying and since the tag width=narrow (or less than 1.9m) would entirely prevent us from routing people to addresses along the road.
It'll take a week or so for the edits to process.
