App thinks car jumped to china causing route planning to fail and app hangs

When reaching a charger on a multi-stop plan, the app hangs. Killing the app and restarting usually does not fix the problem. I’ve had to reinstall. I believe there are two problems:

1. Using the Porsche live link. I think when the car is charging, Porsche’s servers are providing GPS coordinates that say the car in in china. The route planner gets confused by this and either hangs or says the plan is no longer viable. Using the Porsche app, I can see Porsche reporting the car location correctly. Perhaps the API response changes and ABRP needs better error handling.

2. There is a bad interaction with Apple CarPlay when existing the car. At most charging stops I leave the car to use the restroom. When I get back to the car and the phone reconnects to the car and established CarPlay, the app hangs. The display on the car for ABRP is a blank screen.

It’s possible there is an interaction between these two issues.

I am doing the reverse road trip in approx 11 days. I’m happy to test it if you can get a beta to me before then. Dallas to Washington DC metro.

Thanks,
Andrew

We can confirm, the GPS location reported by Porsche/Highmobility is indeed in Beijing, China. We have opened a case with them to sort it out.

Thank you - we will check the live data for your car and see what is going on. As for the app hang, please try out ABRP 4.7.11 which should have fixed this problem.
