On my VW ID.3 the Android Auto map of ABRP flickers between the current location and the start location of my journey.

Will be fixed with 4.4.1

If anyone else can reproduce this easily or sees this often, let me know, we have an internal test version with a possible fix.

Tested with the version you sent me and even when trying my best to do things that used to trigger it, it now doesnt flicker anymore :D
It seems like you are now reloading / restarting the map renderer in certain situations that used to cause flicker?
What used to trigger flickering now just causes an obvious reload of the map, its black for a split second and then I can see the map tiles loading.
Samuel_ABRP
Thats what we did before too, actually. However we did some refactoring and ended up using a different SDK functionality, which looked like it had some side effects.

I think I actually also saw where the flicker came from before, you seem to have some rare case where you trigger the reload twice in rapid succession. Basically does black, tile load, black, tile load, nav route draw. This also fits with the flicker, it was always one map without route and one map with route. Like I said it doesnt flicker, your new way handles this without problems, but just FYI in case that double reload ever causes problems.
Speaking of side-effects, you also squashed the last part of the crashing bug with it for me. 2161 was basically stable, but sometimes the flicker would take down ABRP after a while when it didnt recover, with the flicker gone that crash case is also gone.

The two times initialization is an Android auto bug we already reported, but they couldn't reproduce so they dropped it. We have added a check ourself to avoid double initialization, looks like that didn't work properly with the refactoring, but now it should work again.
Thanks for your feedback. It helped to find the issue.

Got a video from another user and will start investigating this. If anyone can see a pattern, when this occurs, let me know.

Speaking of that, I also now found a 100% sure fire way to make it trigger for me!
Step 1: Start a route from AA (App not open on phone before connection)
Step 2: Start a secondary app in fullscreen (an app that takes the smaller split in coolwalk when multitasking, for example Spotify)
Step 3: Trigger splitscreen from within that App.
Samuel_ABRP
Great, I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Can you maybe make a video of the procedure? I do not seem to be able to reproduce it like this...

Does this only happen in Android Auto or is it the same on the phone (with AA disconnected?)

Only on the car screen in Android Auto. The phone screen is solid when connected and disconnected.
I have a short video of the fault, but it is too big to attach to this forum.
