I have an MG SS EV and ABRP app with the OBDII dongle is showing 5% higher battery than the car is reporting. Is this a correct reading and something to do with the way the car reports its battery % remaining?
Christophe Beyria
Hello. I have a difference between the percentage of battery displayed in the car and the percentage displayed by ABRP of the order of a few percent less for ABRP. Anybody else in this case? Thank you.
Samuel_ABRP
Hi Christophe, please provide more feedback about the car and batery size you have. On The MG5 the pids were the same, but the calculation different, so maybe it is the same on the MG4.
Christophe Beyria
Hello Samuel.
I have the MG4 Luxury version with a 64 kWh battery.
Maybe the usable capacity is lower.
Yes the difference can come from the calculation like the MG5.
Sincerely
Dave Palmer
Yes same issue on my Trophy model. Car 68%, app = 62%
LR/trophy model battery is 64kWh gross, 61.7kWh usable
Christophe Beyria
Yes I have the same gap

Hello Samuel
I don't know if there has been a new update but the battery level display on ABRP is now consistent with the level displayed by the car.
Thank you for having done the necessary.
Sincerely
Dave Palmer
Thank you ABRP team. Confirmed my Trophy now matches the car SOC % so just got a lot more useful.

Hi everyone, we have basic OBD support for MG4 in place now. It reads SoC, SoH, current and voltage. So good enough for generating the custom consumption model for your driving styles. Please give it a try.

How about the Live Data Support from the new MG4.
I try it over MG5 and over OBD connection but it is a mess, seams like the pids are unknown

Hi there.
Please add ABD2 support for the MG4. I tried MG5 in the app as reference, but the SOC is far off because the battery is different. I thing you can go with the MG5 profile and "just" tweak it.
Many Thanks
Tim

Can you make this feature available to connect the ABRP to the OBD dongle for an MG4?
Joe Marsh
No response here for months. Not going to be renewing my subscription.

Please add the obd2 support for MG4

Hello, also very interested.
I have an OBD dongle (vGate iCar Pro) and tried using the MG5 PIDs with Torque Pro but it didn't work for all of them. However, I think I managed to retreive some :
- External temperature (Standard PID 0146, formula "A-40")
- Speed (Standard PID 010d, formula "A")
- SOC (PID 22B045, formula "(A*256+B)/10") or (Standard PID 015B, formula "(A*255/100)")
- SOH (PID 22B061, formula "(A*256+B)/100")
- Odometer (Standard PID 01A6, formula "((A*16777216)+(B*65536)+(C*256)+D)/10")
I didn't manage to get info about charging state.
I hope this can help and available for any needed testing !

Please add OBD for MG4 😍

Tried to test it using the MG5 profile and the Vgate ICar Pro BLE 4.0.
The car is a MG4 Trophy Long Range with no heat pump.
It connected but I got this error screen and the battery % did not show up in the app.

We need obd support for MG4 please !

Any update on OBD support for the MG4?
I have an MG4 Trophy Long Range and have ordered an OBD dongle if you need any test data.
Dave Palmer
Tested and MG5 profile seemed able to connect to the device (Vgate iCar Pro BLE) yet got an error warning.
OBD SoC = 63%
Car screen SoC = 70%
Suggests after initial test yesterday that ODB reports 63% all the time, so not close to real SoC value.
Error warning that unable to read all expected telemetry values at setup.

Hi all,
May I ask you to test linking your MG4 by creating a new vehicle and selecting an MG5? By selecting the MG5 you'll be shown the option to link a vehicle via OBD. Then we'll see if the very same commands are compatible and we can read any data from the MG4.
/Katya

Hopefully will have my MG4 Trophy by end of 2022 - shall reply ASAP
Sara4711
I will get my OBDlink CX tomorrow and I will try you suggestion and se if it is compatible or not.
Dave Palmer
Sorry for the wait. MG4 LR Trophy connected and reading data using the MG5 profile.
SoC was even close:
OBD SoC = 63%
Car screen SoC = 65%
Sara4711
I have tried the OBDlink CX on my MG4 Trophy Long Range with heat Pump. I tried all available MG versions that provide possibility to connect to an OBD2 dongle and all of them failed.
BLE connection status was OK but not the car connection status as seen in teh picture below.
I tried connecting with carscanner pro to the dongle and could sometimes get connections.
It would then indicate.
ECU ID: 7EC
OBD2 protocol: ISO 15765-4 CAN (11 bit ID, 500 kbaud)
ECU Name: B+ChargerCtr
I don't know if this can help.
Raphael Otto
I have a Long Range Luxury with Heatpump and would gladly assist with testing / setting it up.
Dave Palmer
Please add OBD2 support for the MG4 - I have ordered (Trophy/Luxury) so happy to test/provide data if I can be of any help.
Dave Palmer
Unsure if able to re-use the MG5 profile as the MG4 is a whole new platform, yet once mine arrives (LR Trophy) very happy to help with testing or any data.
Tim Holzhausen
I got my Short Range already.
How can i provide Testdata?
Samuel_ABRP
Hi, i just adjusted the MG5 SR soc calculation, as it was off by 5%. Should be good now. What exactly was the problem with the values when you tried the MG5 SR with MG4? Can you please try again and let us know which values are off?
